Excellent chicken and sausage gumbo. The catfish poboy was gigantic. Building is an older converted grocery store with a lot of character. If you are passing through its worth a stop.

Amazing food . The ribeye topped with shrimp étouffée was fantastic and fairly priced . Cool old building as well .

Do Not Eat Here, I went over with a party of 4 we were gonna have a couple of drinks then our meal, we sat down an waited an waited for service the waitresses seemed like they had more important things going on it took forever for us to finally get our drinks ordered an when we got them finally they were watered down but the surprises didn't stop there, we then all ordered the fried shrimp meal it took forever for them to bring it out an when they did it was cold we then sent it back which by the way took another 45 minutes to get our shrimp an when it came back u can clearly tell the shrimp was very undercooked the batter on the shrimp was still white that's how bad it was but we then understood cause a fellow customer told us they hire inexperienced cooks from off the street who have no cooking experience whatsoever which we were told is a direct reflection of the owner/manager. Avoid This Place u will eat better at the local Mcdonalds

We are camping at Lake Fausse Point, LA and were told to go to the Kajun King for a great po' boy. In spite of the couple of very bad reviews, we tried it for lunch today and were so pleased to have one of the very best shrimp po'boys we've eaten (and we've had them in a number of places in Louisianna as well as Florida, Georgia, and I can't remember where else). The building is an old one in downtown St. Martinville, and while the decor is dated, I didn't see even a dust bunny or cobweb in the place. My husband ordered the shrimp po' boy and curly fries and I had the shrimp po' boy and house-made onion rings. The po'boys were wonderful: nice crisp lettuce, ripe tomatoes, pickles, and mayo, and jam packed with wonderful, fresh shrimp fried to perfection. We both enjoyed a bit of the good chow-chow that was available on the table - spicy but full-flavored. The curly fries were fresh and tasty, and the house-made onion rings were fried crisp, but the onion was juicy inside. All-in-all, we had a delicious lunch. While you are in the area, check out the Longfellow-Evangeline State Historic Site - if you like that sort of thing - it's well worth a couple of hours or more.

Authentic Cajun cuisine!! Friendly atmosphere. I had the seafood gumbo and it was very good!! The husband had a shrimp poboy that was as big as the plate!! They have very generous portions. Overall, I would go back and bring friends!! Support the local economy!!

This place is the real deal. They have a regular Cajun menu, apparently the gumbo is supposed to be good, and they advertised fresh crawfish dishes, but on Sundays (when we went) they only have barbecue. This made things a little challenging for my vegetarian companion who had to have salad, but my barbecue dish was AMAZING and consisted of the tastiest barbecue chicken (they offered choice of dark chicken, white chicken, pork or beef), dirty rice (seasoned rice with a bit of beef thrown in), delicious potato salad and beans. It was inexpensive - $21 for 2 people including drinks. It is in an old building with original tin ceiling, and there were several local men around the bar. Although I got the impression that tourists do not frequent this place, everyone was very friendly and we did not feel uncomfortable. Recommended by a local volunteer at the Acadian Memorial nearby.
